Derek Sholl
Eight years ago, Derek Sholl put down his baseball mitt, picked up a guitar, and strummed the first
chords of a promising music career. For a West Coast boy, Derek had never really been exposed to
country music. But his teammates from the Kansas City Royals loved to turn up the clubhouse radio to
the twang, drawl and all-American feel of a soulful country song and Derek developed an affinity for
the poignant lyrics, unique sound and great life stories told through country music.
Soon after, he began perfecting his musical talent. He found a niche as a singer/songwriter and
with the support and encouragement of friends and family - and a few people in the music industry,
Derek put together a band and brought country music to his hometown of Torrance, California.
Derek is now moving full-speed ahead, never looking back. He looks fondly on the milestones in his
burgeoning music career: being nominated for "Best Male Country Artist" at the Los Angeles Music
Awards, recording twenty-eight original songs in Nashville and his most inspirational moment of all,
a phone call from Garth Brooks saying, "You wouldn't be crazy if you dropped everything you're doing
right now and got your butt back to Nashville, because you've definitely got what it takes!"
His style ranges from potential chart-topping ballads, such as, "When it's Yours" and "The Holdin'
on Kind," to rockin' dance songs, such as "Red Blooded Country Girl" and "Don't Threaten me with a
Good Time." Currently, he continues to gain exposure as the opening act for Jay Leno at the Mirage
Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, searching for that break that will launch him to the top of the country
music industry.
Derek Sholl is managed by Eddie Wenrick Management.
